Travel Grants for IGS Young Members
The IGS Young Members Committee and IGS Foundation are offering travel grants to support young professionals and students wishing to attend the 13th International Conference on Geosynthetics (13ICG), taking place 13–17 September 2026 in Montreal, Canada.
What is being offered
- Travel grants of up to $1,200 USD per recipient to help cover travel, accommodation, and conference fees.
Who can apply
- IGS Young Members (students and young professionals) who are 35 years old or younger at the time of the conference and current IGS members.
Selection and objectives
- Priority will be given to candidates from regions with higher financial need, considering World Bank Purchasing Power Parities.
- The program focuses on diversity and inclusion across regions, genders, and backgrounds, aiming to broaden Young Members participation.
How and when to apply
- Application deadline: 28 February 2026
- Applications can be submitted via the dedicated online Google Form OR, where Google is not available, by sending the completed PDF form and required documents to the IGS Young Members Committee email address: youngmembers@geosyntheticssociety.org
Conditions for grant recipients
- Present the accepted contribution at 13ICG and submit a short feedback report (about 450 words) with photos within one month after the conference.
- Support of the IGS Foundation Silent Auction is also requested during the conference.

Did you submit a paper proposal to 13 ICG? If you are a qualifying IGS Young Member, are the lead author (and presenting author) of an accepted abstract (to be a full paper) for the conference, you can enter the Young Members Paper Competition.
Open to all young members (35 and younger), whether a working professional or student.
What Is At Stake?
The IGS Young Members Committee will invite 8 papers for presentation in Montreal in a special session. All 8 author-presenters receive a free full registration to 13 ICG. After the competition session is held, judges will evaluate the works (papers + presentation) and award:
- First prize is USD $1,000.00 and an exclusive interview with the IGS News
- Second prize is USD $600.00
- Third prize is USD $400.00
** All eight (8) finalists will receive a certificate and their full conference registration fee will be waived. **
